Welcome to Troop 45, Boy Scouts of America.
Troop 45 was chartered in July 1936, by a group of citizens. In 1938 the Kiwanis Club took over as sponsor until the current charter organization, the Wesley Class of the First United Methodist Church, became Troop 45's sponsor.
In 1944 the men of the Wesley Class moved the original wood frame scout hut to 5th Street. This feat was accomplished without machinery, using only muscle power and telephone poles to roll it into place. The Wesley class built the current brick "Scout Hut" in 1953.
Many scouts have passed through Troop 45's scouting program and the troop has a long list of scouts who have earned the rank of eagle. Many of the Eagles are still living and working in this community today.
* Meetings: Troop 45 meets on each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. At the "Scout Hut" located on the First United Methodist Church grounds, at 5 th Street and the alley.
* Outings: A major component of the BSA program is the outdoor program, Troop 45 supports patrol camping, summer camp, winter camp and other destinations and high adventure programs as desired by the scouts.
* Service : Another key component of the scouting program is cheerful service to others. Troop 45 serves the community through a variety of projects.
